About Us

Hi, my name’s Kate and I started training as a florist way back in the late 80’s just after having my third child.

I qualified with my City and Guilds Level 3 and worked in a couple of shops in the East Midlands before taking the plunge and buying a shop of my own in Swadlincote, Derbyshire. Twelve months later I took on a second shop in Ashby-de-la-Zouch and for the next 12 years my team and I worked hard to provide the local area with a high standard of floristry and customer service.

In that time we did over 500 bridal bouquets and specialized in bespoke funeral tributes….anything from 3d lorries to fish!

In 2017 Andy and I moved to Anglesey…I’d always longed to live by the sea!...I sold the shops in the Midlands, one to my daughter, Amy, and I’m now combining my love of gardening with my floristry.

Island Breeze Designs is run from a studio in a barn on our smallholding in Llanddeusant and we deliver flowers across Anglesey....bouquets, bunches, funeral tributes and arrangements as well as wedding bouquets and venue flowers.

Specializing in predominantly seasonal, British and Irish grown flowers and foliage my style is very natural and countryside/garden inspired. The flowers I use vary in variety and colour and I never know from one week to the next what I’ll have to work with making every delivery of stock that little bit more exciting! (I do occasionally have imported flowers in stock, particularly for bespoke weddings and Valentines Day)

Most flowers are presented to the recipients in recycled vases, jam jars or kraft paper bunches with raffia or twine ties keeping the use of plastic to an absolute minimum…even the flower food supplied with each order comes in a compostable package. We use recycled, plastic vases for many orders which are purchased from a British company and made from UK recycled products… the vases themselves are 100% recyclable (or reusable) too.

Wherever possible I buy local, reuse and recycle.
